Molecular markers as tools in breeding for resistance to Potato Virus Y

چکیده
Potato virus Y (PVY) is an economically important pathogen of potato as a vegetatively propagated crop. High resistance to all strains PVY determined by Ry-genes, which are introgressed into modern varieties from limited number sources ‒ Solanum stoloniferum Schlechtd. et Bche . , andigenum Juz. Buk., chacoense Bitt. Use new species and interspecific hybrids based on them provides for the expansion existing gene pool in breeding PVY. Traditional viruses has still great potential, though, it long laborious process. Molecular markers linked Ry-genes widely integrated order increase effectiveness practical breeding. Previous studies have revealed shortcomings using molecular Ry-genes. To assess predictive abilities RYSC3, M45, M6 Ryadg YES3-3A Rysto PVY, F1 generation two populations was studied, creation inter-specific were used. The nature segregation 5:3 obtained phenotype showed that original parental forms can be not only previously identified, but also unidentified Ny-genes hypersensitivity. Correlation coefficient between presence 0.64 YES3-3 marker (79 % matching) 0.54 М45, М6 (76 matching). There been cases “false positive” results study (the susceptible genotypes), indicate insufficient observed consistent with chromatid segregation, confirming simplex inheritance resistant parents. ratio genotypes presence/absence 0.86:1.

potato virus y (pvy) is one of the most important pathogenic agents that reduce the yield and quality of tobacco (nicotiana tabacum l.). dna-based molecular markers are valuable tools for identifying germplasm in gene banks, assessing kinship ties, and doing marker-assisted selection (mas) for resistance to pests, diseases, and some crop traits of interest. this work presents the results of ass...
متن کاملInduction of Resistance to Potato Virus Y (PVY) Using Hairpin Construct of Coat Protein
Potato virus Y (PVY) is one of the most damaging viruses of potato plants which infecting most cultivars and causing significant yield and economical losses. The application of the concept of pathogen derived resistance opened new horizons for the development of virus-resistant plants. This research was carried out to study RNA silencing to engineered potato plants that are resistant to potato ...
متن کاملIDENTIFICATION OF MOLECULAR MARKERS LINKED TO LEAF CURL VIRUS DISEASE RESISTANCE IN COTTON
The identification of molecular markers linked to leaf curl virus (CLCuV) disease resistance in cotton has the potential to improve both the efficiency and the efficacy of selection in cotton breeding programs. Genetic analysis suggested that CLCuV resistance is controlled by a single dominant gene. In this study, an interspecific F2 population derived from a cross of Gossypium barbadense and G...
متن کاملPathogen derived resistance to Potato virus Y: mechanisms and risks
Since the concept of pathogen derived resistance (PDR) was proposed in 1985, genetic transformation of plants to express virus-derived sequences has been used to engineer resistance to many viruses. This paper reviews PDR approaches to Potato virus Y (PVY, type member of the genus Potyvirus). PDR to viruses operates often through RNA-mediated resistance mechanisms that do not require protein ex...
